Sling Show Scotland - Saturday 24th September 2016 at Heriot Watt University
, Saturday saw Molly and I head down to Edinburgh, bright and early in the morning, to attend and volunteer at Sling Show Scotland 2016!
I have been supporting the amazing show organisers, Kimberley Mitchell and Mhairi Christie, on the social media side of things, and anticipation/excitement before the show was high. Waiting for Sling Show Scotland was like waiting for Christmas, but only better! With 30 exhibitors, and some of the best names in babywearing making their way to Edinburgh to meet the Scottish babywearing community, the day promised to be one full of fun and surprises.
The atmosphere was surprisingly calm when we arrived just before 9am - exhibitors were setting up, and volunteers were quietly preparing. Grabbing a pink volunteer t shirt and a name badge (1 of 2 after Molly's 'help' with it), my friend Fiona and I got to setting up the Oscha Exclusives table (and had a good feel and ooh over the gorgeous Okinami Or and Margeau Alba!) As show attendees started to arrive, and the atmosphere started to buzz, I took the chance to quickly run round with my 'big camera' (and my phone) before it got too wild!
As 10.30 approached, the queue started to grow, and grow, and grow a little bit more! And then we were off - everyone keen to get in and see what the show had in store for them!
As well as the exhibitors, there was also a full and comprehensive workshop and seminar programme. I ran the Introduction to Woven Wraps workshop, generously sponsored by Baie Slings. I was very lucky to be gifted a beautiful wrap from them which I will show you over on my Facebook page soon! I'm hoping Laura of Laura Toomer Photography managed to grab some images as my camera lay redundant and forgotten for the duration!
The exhibitors had really gone all out to make the show a great experience for everyone who attended, with exclusive wraps for the show, competitions, special offers and even babywearing photo shoots! Firespiral were also recording their #RealLifeWrapping videos and I'm looking forward to seeing how they put them altogether!
The day seemed to pass in a flash - all too soon it was time to draw the raffle and the show was drawing to a close. It had been wonderful to see so many happy, carried babies, and lots of families coming together to see what Sling Show Scotland was all about. Ticket sales and raffle proceeds helped raise over £700 for The Up Project and Bliss Scotland, which is amazing!
The show really did have something for everyone - if you want to see more images from the day, and keep up to date on news of next years event (eek!) then pop over to the Facebook page
